There are several ways that you can be involved with The Billings Symphony Orchestra and Chorale. We welcome your participation in one or more of the following opportunities. We look forward to having you as part of our organization.
The Billings Symphony Orchestra and Chorale is widely regarded as one of the finest orchestras in the region. Many different talents and skills are needed to provide management and support for this cultural treasure.
The Billings Symphony Orchestra is a professional orchestra and all musicians must successfully complete a double-blind audition prior to engagement. Double-blind auditions are held with the auditionee performing behind a screen where s/he cannot see the audition committee and in the same fashion, the audition committee does not know her/his identity. Auditions for membership take place in the spring of each year. (Substitute auditions also occur at this time, or may be arranged by individual appointment throughout the year.) Those new to the audition process are encouraged to get coaching to ensure optimal preparation, and can contact the BSO&C office for recommendations.
The next auditions take place on Sunday, April 17, 2016 on the campus of MSU Billings. The repertoire list (with current openings) is posted above, and audition packets are available by request from the BSO&C office. The 2016 audition press release (with updated openings) and additional info will be posted by March 3, 2016. Interested candidates must schedule an audition with the BSO&C office between the time of the press release and Friday, April 8, 2016.
